5 Reasons Bang Si Hyuk Made V a 'Hidden Member' During Debut
BTS is now known as one of the most successful K-Pop groups in the global music industry. However, did you know that this seven-person formation was not planned from the start? Bang Si Hyuk, the leading producer of BTS and the owner of the agency Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE Labels), even made V BTS a hidden member ahead of preparations for BTS' 2013 debut.
This information is no longer an open secret among fans, but after almost 8 years of BTS's career, Bang Si Hyuk finally revealed the real reason why he made V BTS a hidden member.
1. Didn't Plan to Participate in K-Pop Idol Auditions in the Beginning
Unlike other K-pop idols, who usually audition, become trainees, and then officially debut. V BTS's career journey is a little different because he was initially not interested in b
Until one day, he accompanied his friend to audition at Big Hit Entertainment (now Big Hit Music). There, V was actually offered by Big Hit to audition as well. V then called his parents and immediately auditioned right away.
2. Immature Potential
When auditioning for Big Hit, V BTS received several questions, including a request to show his talents in front of the selection team.
"I tried to dance, they asked if there was another talent? I sang, they asked me again there was another talent? I attempted to beatbox, they asked again, is there anything else? I tried rapping, they asked if there was another? I played the saxophone, they kept asking anything else? I finally answered that there are no other skills that I can show, "said V.
3. The feeling of being a hidden member
Even though V joined Big Hit in 2011, his face was never revealed to the public until the first teaser photo on June 2, 2013, 11 days before BTS debuted. In fact, the other members have introduced themselves through pictures and vlogs since early 2012.
V also revealed that being a hidden member is not easy for him. He also explained it in his first 'Bangtan Blog.'
"When all the members were shooting for their respective vlogs, I was the only one who couldn't do it. I was so sad. When everyone else was sI did it too whening in the studio, I did it too, but I coit. While shooting myself, I said something like, 'Today, this month's day in 2013, I recorded this myself, and it's probably never going to be released, right? I'm sad'," said V.
4. Never Understand What It Means
After 8 years had passed, when V was now a member of a world-famous group, V was invited to reminisce by Rolling Stone Magazine. In a recent interview, V was asked about this hidden member.
"I actually never understood what it meant and its purpose," he said with a laugh. "Why did they do that to me back then? What kind of concept is that? I really don't understand it."
5. Have Extraordinary Charisma
In response to this, HYBE's CEO, Bang Si Hyuk, explained his reasons for forming BTS's formation with such a concept and why he chose BTS's V as a hidden member.
"We needed the perfect momentum to announce a group called BTS. V has great charisma, both in appearance and personality, so we thought the impact would be huge if V was announced last. Who will debut, as well as the impression that fans receive from each member," explained Bang Si Hyuk.
Both V, Bang Si Hyuk, BTS, and the agency, do not consider this a significant problem because they have grown up and have achieved success together like a family. Both BTS and V personally also left a distinct impression on his career.
Because the hidden member of BTS has now transformed into one of the musicians, actors, models, to world superstars. What do you think about the career journey of a V BTS?
